The Wisdom Connection Story
Karen Wilhelm Buckley(L) and Fay Freed(R) launched The Wisdom Connection on April 19, 2008. Connecting women with their feminine wisdom, leadership and their ability to lead change was their passion!
In 2011 Fay left an active Co-Director role with The Wisdom Connection to join her husband Ronn Landsman in Star Consulting. Karen continues as Director, in full appreciation of Fay and her many gifts and beautiful feminine wisdom.
It all started in 2005 when Fay and Karen combined their intensive research into women’s leadership, wisdom, women’s gifts and approaches, and the feminine that became The Nine Facets of Feminine Wisdom, one key element of the Wisdom Connection programs and services.
They drew on extensive experience that included over 50 years of research and exploration into many aspects of feminine wisdom and power– from evolutionary relationships to sensual pleasure, from the role of intuition in leadership to convening conversations that matter, as well as the feminine approaches to leadership, team building, and change.
Their programs, presentations, coaching and consulting helped thousands of women, and men, to achieve remarkable results and find greater personal and professional fulfillment than they ever imagined.
The Wisdom Connection creates a context for long-lasting and transformational change, focusing on women and their lives. Through Wisdom Connection programs and services a woman brings out the power of her innate and natural Feminine Wisdom.
The Story of How We Met
The Fay & Karen Connection
On a beautiful spring day in March 2005, we met at an International Women’s Day event hosted by our mutual friends Kim and Debra. By accident, we sat next to each other and thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company. Then, by good fortune, we met again several months later at Kim and Debra’s Mother’s Day gathering.
Women’s Leadership
Again, across the room, we noticed each other. In fact, we made a beeline for each other and settled into neighboring chairs. Immediately we discovered a common bond of connection – the way we both lived a deep commitment with and for the feminine in leadership. Of course, we scheduled afternoon tea the following week to explore our shared passion for women’s leadership.
On the appointed day, at the Aroma Café in San Rafael, California, we excitedly arrived with bags full of things to share. Seated in the window seat, we opened our notebooks and exchanged materials, research, experiences and knowledge, fascinated by the life-long work we had each done bringing the feminine spirit into consciousness, language, visceral experience, lives, and systems.
Our Commitment to Women
Each of our journeys, while so different, brought us to a common commitment to women. We discovered that we each produced events and occasions for women to identify and reclaim who they are and embody the full dimensionality and expression of their feminine nature.
We also found that we liked each other! We share an appreciation of the arts, a passion for skiing, and enjoy nature and outdoor life. Happy in life-long relationships with our husbands, we are both ferocious mothers. We recognized in each other a deep-seated, no nonsense committed approach to life (with an extraordinary capability for “monkey business” as well ).

Over the course of the ensuing years our work together developed into a body of work -- the Nine Facets of Feminine Wisdom™. The Wisdom Connection was launched in April 2008 because this work just had to be shared!
